One collective, 22 grocery banners

Albertsons Media Collective: Ad Formats & Agency Support

RMIQ maps which Albertsons banners carry your products before choosing audiences, so budgets follow real distribution across 2,100+ stores.

Albertsons Media Collective is the retail media network of Albertsons Companies. Brands, agencies and brokers buy its ads on Albertsons' e-commerce site and loyalty app, in its stores, and offsite through Google's DV360, The Trade Desk, Meta and streaming TV, with results tied to in-store and online sales.

National reach, banner-by-banner shelf

Sold nationally, stocked banner by banner: the Albertsons footprint

The Collective sells "local loyalty, backed by national reach" across its 22 banners. Underneath, stores vary by state, and targeting, creative and screens by banner or store.

  1. Stores weighted to six states

    10-K, February 28, 2026

California has 584 of Albertsons' 2,244 stores (26%). With Washington, Texas, Illinois, Arizona and Oregon, six states hold 64%; Iowa, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Arkansas have one store each.

  2. Banner and region segments

    Audience targeting

The Collective offers "over 2,800 target-audience segments," including "regional divisions and store-banner targeting."

  3. Creative versions by distribution

    2026 specs

Versions that run side by side "due to product distribution" count as one creative version, and self-serve YouTube campaigns need "a unique video ... for each participating banner."

  4. Screens tied to stores

    In-store and out-of-home

The in-store fleet was set to add about 800 stores in 2026, with presence across 10 divisions; digital out-of-home offers "120,000 digital screens near stores carrying your products."

The Collective's onsite pages do not say which banners each placement reaches, so a banner map starts from the brand's own distribution data.

Four channels, one loyalty data set

Albertsons Media Collective ad formats across four channels

Audiences come from Albertsons' first-party data, "real grocery transactions from more than 50 million loyalty members."

  • Onsite search, display and coupons

    • Units: Sponsored product ads, Brand Spotlight, display, coupons, email, landing pages

Sponsored product ads take "prominent placements at the top of search and category listings and in the browse experience"; digital manufacturer coupons can add an email reminder to clip.

  • In-store and out-of-home

    • Units: Screens, audio, shelf signage, sampling, digital out-of-home

Screens include deli and pharmacy placements, and audio runs through Stingray.

  • Offsite video and Collective TV

    • Units: Google's DV360 and YouTube, The Trade Desk, Collective TV

Collective TV covers "streaming, digital video, and soon, linear TV." On The Trade Desk, one click on an Add-It ad puts the product in the shopper's Albertsons cart.

  • Social, creators and branded series

    • Units: Meta, Pinterest, Influencer 360, branded entertainment

Meta and Pinterest report closed-loop sales. A scripted P&G series, announced June 17, 2026, launched June 23.

Insertion order, DSP seat or Criteo

The public way in is a contact form for agencies, brands and brokers.

  1. The Collective's team

Managed buys run on insertion orders under the Collective's standard terms.

    • Default payment: 30 days from invoice
  2. The Trade Desk and DV360

The Collective's audiences and measurement run in The Trade Desk and DV360; in DV360, brands keep "full control over budget, creativity, targeting, and optimization."

    • More than 175 commerce audiences for YouTube and premium inventory (April 27, 2026)
  3. Criteo, onsite

Criteo has supported brands' onsite sponsored product ads since its January 2024 partnership, which named Commerce Max, Criteo's self-service demand-side platform, for onsite buys.

Four changes since April

Albertsons Media Collective news: measurement, AI search and a new regional map

Two of the four add measurement to a closed loop tying ads to in-store and online sales.

  1. September 17, 2026

    Multi-touch attribution with LiveRamp

The tool reads the Collective's own channels alongside Meta, DV360, Google Ad Manager and Perion in "a single, deduplicated view of performance."

  2. July 23, 2026

    Eleven divisions become four regions

Albertsons Companies regrouped 11 divisions into California, West, South and East regions, with "no plans to realign stores or districts."

  3. June 23, 2026

Sponsored products in AI conversational search

Through Criteo, eligible sponsored products can appear in the product carousels of Albertsons' AI-powered conversational search.

  4. April 16, 2026

    Onsite incrementality

Test-and-control incrementality measurement, live in store since January 6, reached onsite display.

Approvals, methods, a review

Claim approvals, iROAS methods and a banner review: risks in a Collective plan

  1. Six weeks for some claims

"Made in the USA" and green claims need advance approval, with "the standard SLA" of 6 weeks.

  2. iROAS that moves with the method

In 42 campaigns studied with Ovative and Northwestern's Kellogg School, the Collective found reported iROAS "could vary by 6.5x on average" with methodology alone.

  3. Banners under review

On October 13, 2026, Albertsons Companies began a "comprehensive business review," due to end in its fourth quarter, that covers its "portfolio of banners."

Distribution before audiences

Albertsons Media Collective agency support, banner by banner

An RMIQ Collective plan starts with the banners stocking a brand's products.

  • A banner and region map first

From your own distribution data, RMIQ lists which banners and regions carry each product, then picks the Collective's banner and regional segments to match.

  • The route, chosen on a call

RMIQ and your team choose the route: insertion orders with the Collective's team, or its audiences in your Trade Desk or DV360 seat.

  • Budgets by product, results by method

RMIQ sets each product's budget by the banners that stock it and checks which method produced an iROAS before comparing networks.

Measured per network

RMIQ's case studies cover no Albertsons campaign. Zack's Mighty comes closest: campaigns "across multiple networks," reported per network, the way an Albertsons plan is split by banner.
