Target Product Ads management on Roundel
Target Advertising Agency: Expert Roundel Management
RMIQ manages Target Product Ads on Target.com and the Target app, and keeps them separate from offsite Roundel audience campaigns in planning and reporting.
Roundel is Target's retail media network. It sells Target Product Ads, sponsored products charged per click on Target.com and the Target app, plus display, connected TV, Google search, social and creator campaigns. Roundel targets and measures with first-party data from more than 100 million Target Circle members.
Onsite and offsite
From Target.com to TV screens: the placements Roundel sells
Roundel sells onsite ads on Target's own site and app, and offsite campaigns that carry Target's audience data to other screens.
Target Product Ads

Search Ads by Roundel run on Google, pull product details from the Target product feed and send shoppers to Target.com. They are an offsite product, separate from the Target Product Ads that run on Target's own site and app.
CTV and premium video

Connected TV placements run within premium publisher content, verified by DoubleVerify. The DIRECTV pilot adds home screens, live programming and travel screens.

Static, animated and video ads on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat, plus co-branded creator content on Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok through LTK, Roundel's influencer partner.

Ad specs for each format are in RMIQ's Target Roundel advertising guide.

- 30%+ Partner media spend off Target's own platforms, 2025 Across social, streaming and other digital channels. Target, June 18, 2026.

Self-serve or managed
Three routes into Roundel: your own seat, a partner or Roundel's team
Roundel sells Target Product Ads and programmatic audiences self-serve, and its other formats only through its managed service. Product ads have two self-serve routes: a brand's own Media Studio seat or a partner platform.
Your own Media Studio seat
Target Product Ads bought self-serve in Roundel Media Studio, which is open to brands of all sizes, including Target Plus sellers.
- No minimum spend to get started, and no DSP or access fee.
- Product ad data shows in Reports, Roundel's reporting tool.
A partner platform
Roundel's TPA Partner Directory lists 55 partners, from technology services that integrate with Media Studio to media management and planning firms.
- Criteo is integrated directly with Target, and Criteo API partners run product ads from their own platforms.
- Partners set their own fees, and some set minimums, on top of the media.
- The platform reports impressions, clicks, spend, units sold and ROAS itself.
Roundel's managed service
Display, CTV, search on Google, social and influencer campaigns run only through Roundel's managed service.
- Media planning partners can plan this media next to product ads.
- Reports also covers Google search, social and multivendor campaigns.
Target Product Ads
CPC, second-price auction
You pay when a shopper clicks, and Target runs the auction on a second-price basis.
RMIQ's Target Roundel advertising guide covers Media Studio setup, bidding and costs step by step.
New at Roundel
Roundel developments that bear on 2027 plans
September 30, 2026
Roundel shows a Target Plus seller running its own product ads
Roundel's new case study follows Simply Sage, a Target Plus apparel seller that managed Target Product Ads in Roundel Media Studio. Roundel reports 886% revenue growth and ad penetration up from 1% to 14%, from 2025 Target internal data.
September 14, 2026
Roundel moves under Target's new marketing chief
Target named Mark Weinstein, formerly Hilton's global marketing chief, as chief marketing and guest experience officer. He also oversees Roundel and the Target Plus marketplace, so Target's ad business and its marketplace now report to one executive.

Surveyed marketers doubled their Roundel budgets
In Digiday+ Research surveys of 125 marketers, 32% said they advertise on Roundel, the third most used retail media network. On a weighted-average basis, they doubled the budget they give it in 2026 compared with 2025.

A premium-video pilot with DIRECTV
Roundel is piloting Target first-party audiences on DIRECTV Advertising, including home screens, live programming and screens in travel settings, with sales tracked at Target.
Closed-loop data
Reports, The Trade Desk or a partner platform: where Roundel sales show up
Roundel reports onsite product ads and offsite campaigns through partly different routes.
Target Product Ads
Closed-loop reporting connects ad performance with Target sales data. Reports, Roundel's reporting tool, shows product ad data only for campaigns run in Roundel Media Studio; partner platforms report impressions, clicks, spend, units sold and ROAS themselves.
Offsite audience campaigns
Any DSP returns standard media metrics, and sales metrics come through The Trade Desk or through Reports, which also covers Google search, social and multivendor campaigns.
- Attribution: a multi-touch attribution model spreads the credit across the touchpoints before a purchase, and Roundel's measurement includes new guest ROAS.
- Incrementality: synthetic control, matched market and randomized controlled trials measure incrementality, "available for eligible campaigns" depending on objectives, investment level and measurement needs. Target's Matched Market Model is a geo holdout test of the incremental sales a campaign drove.
Friction
What slows brands down on Roundel
On Roundel, the extra work comes from running two buying routes and partly separate reporting at once.
Two ways of buying at once
Product ads and programmatic are self-serve only; display, CTV, Google search, social and influencers are managed only. A brand that wants the full funnel works with Roundel both ways.
Lead times on managed formats
CTV, search and social campaigns need 6 to 10 weeks for most clients, so they have to be planned well ahead of a seasonal peak.
Access takes several steps
Media Studio access runs through Roundel's sign-up form and a Partners Online account from your company's admin. In the steps Target set out in 2024, a Roundel representative then grants access.
Reports split by route
Product ads bought through a partner platform report in that platform, and offsite sales can also come through The Trade Desk, so one view of Target can take assembly.
Agency support
Target ad agency support for Target Product Ads
RMIQ lists Target among the networks it supports. On Target, its work centers on Target Product Ads.
- The first call settles which access route fits your account: your own Media Studio seat, with no minimum or access fee, or a partner platform with its own fees.
Second-price CPC, set per product
Target Product Ads charge per click in a second-price auction, with manual or automated keywords. RMIQ's AI agents set keyword targeting and CPC bids product by product inside that auction.
The brand's goal, set per campaign
Where the account runs in Media Studio, each campaign optimizes toward conversions, clicks or revenue, and RMIQ sets that objective from the goal the brand gives it.
Onsite kept apart from offsite
Because Roundel reports product ads and offsite audience campaigns through partly different routes, RMIQ plans and reports Target Product Ads as their own line, apart from any offsite Roundel campaign your brand runs with Roundel or another partner.
Proof
RMIQ results on other networks
RMIQ has not published a Target result. Its multi-network case study shows the same SKU-level method on Walmart, Instacart and Whole Foods.

Common questions
Target advertising agency FAQ
01What does a Target advertising agency do?
A Target advertising agency plans, buys and optimizes a brand's media on Roundel, Target's retail media network. For Target Product Ads, that means choosing products, keywords and CPC bids, then reading the sales reports. For display, CTV, social or Google search, it means briefing Roundel's managed service, which needs 6 to 10 weeks on several formats.
02Should I use Roundel managed services or an agency?
It depends on the format. Roundel's managed service is the only way to buy display, CTV, Google search, social and influencer campaigns. Target Product Ads are self-serve only, so a brand runs them itself in Roundel Media Studio, through a partner's technology platform, or with an agency doing the work for it; Roundel's directory lists 55 such partners.
03How does RMIQ keep Target Product Ads and offsite Roundel campaigns apart?
Roundel reports them through different routes: product ad sales through Reports or a partner platform, offsite sales through The Trade Desk or Reports. RMIQ plans and reports Target Product Ads as their own line, so onsite results stay readable on their own, next to any offsite audience campaign run by Roundel or another partner.
04Is RMIQ Target's advertising agency?
No. Roundel is Target's own media business and sells the ads. RMIQ is a retail media agency that manages a brand's Target Product Ads on behalf of that brand, alongside its campaigns on networks such as Instacart and Walmart. It works for brands and sellers that advertise on Target.
05Does Roundel sell ads off Target.com?
Yes. Roundel carries Target's audience data to more than 150 premium publishers, Google, social platforms, connected TV and a DIRECTV pilot, and sells billboards near Target stores. More than 30% of partner media spend ran off Target's own platforms in 2025, Target said in June 2026.
06Can Target Plus sellers advertise on Roundel?
Yes. Target Plus is invite-only, and Target says its self-service tool for product ads is open to sellers in the Target Plus marketplace. In September 2026 Roundel published a case study on Simply Sage, a Target Plus apparel seller that managed its own Target Product Ads and, by Roundel's figures, grew revenue 886%.
