Keyword bids yourself, the rest through Kohl's

Kohl's Media Network: Ad Formats & Advertising Agency Support

RMIQ separates the sponsored products you run yourself in Kohl's Koddi-built platform from the email, app and offsite campaigns Kohl's Media Network runs for you.

Kohl's Media Network (KMN) is the retail media network of Kohl's, which called it "the company's in-house retail media agency" in 2022. It sells sponsored products and display on Kohls.com, email, app push and offsite media. Its onsite platform, KMN Katalyst, runs on Koddi, which replaced Microsoft's PromoteIQ in August 2025.

One login, two kinds of seat

KMN Katalyst has two doors: sponsored products you bid on, and media Kohl's team runs for you

"KMN Katalyst supports both self-service and managed-service campaign experiences," says KMN's help center, and the tactic decides which applies. Both routes report in the same platform, and KMN's general FAQ says "Kohl's generates advertiser invoices at month-end" and "KMN does not have a DSP fee."

Self-service: Sponsored Product Ads

Advertiser Admin or Manager seat

Self-service "is currently available for Sponsored Product Ads / PLAs," with "Keyword Targeting Only." Each click is priced in a second-price CPC auction, where the winner "pays $0.01 more than the next highest bidder."

  • Self-service users hold "Advertiser Admin or Advertiser Manager roles."
  • Automated bidding aims at a ROAS goal: "The goal type is defaulted to ROAS."
  • Some ad types "(like Product Listings Ads) do not require approvals."
  • Koddi's ads support aims to answer within about 24 hours.

Managed service: every other tactic

Viewer seat, Kohl's team activates

Kohl's team runs "on-site displays, homepage, sponsored brand ad tactics" and all offsite media; the help center says "Activation for offsite media will continue to be managed service." Its targeting is a "Comprehensive Targeting System," and managed-service users "are typically assigned viewer access."

  • Minimum spend depends "on the specific tactics, campaign duration, and your target KPIs."
  • Sales and account managers "create custom proposals and provide pricing rate cards."
  • Kohl's lists geographic, demographic, interest and purchase-history signals for its targeting.

Marketplace sellers buy sponsored placements in the same Koddi-built platform as brand vendors: Kohl's Marketplace offers sellers "Kohl's Media Network (KMN) powered by Koddi."

Filings and calls from March to September 2026

1,151 stores, $14.8 billion in sales: the shopper base behind KMN

Kohl's sells "apparel, footwear, accessories, beauty, and home products" in its stores and on Kohls.com. Its filings put "third-party advertising on our website" inside other revenue, beside marketplace commissions, with no separate figure.

  • 1,151 Kohl's stores In 49 states, August 1, 2026.
  • $14.8B Net sales Fiscal 2025, down 4.0%.
  • 29% Digital share of net sales Fiscal 2025; 27% in Q2 2026.
  • 88% Kohl's Marketplace growth Q2 2026 against a year earlier.

Grid slots, inboxes, feeds

Sponsored products, Kohls.com display, email, push and social: KMN's placement menu

KMN's own site counts more than 1.6 billion internal Kohls.com searches, more than 45 million email subscribers and more than 10 million monthly active app users, without giving a date.

  • Sponsored Products

    • Where: Search, category pages, product grids, product pages
    • Buying: Self-service or managed, per click

Kohl's help center lists a "Featured carousel: 1 placement available per PLP," "Up to 12 ad slots available per page" in the grid and "1 placement available per PDP," across "web, mobile web, and app."

  • Onsite display, homepage and sponsored brand ads

    • Where: Kohls.com on desktop, mobile and the app
    • Buying: Managed service

KMN sells "contextually relevant banner ads" on Kohls.com. Its attribution table also names Sponsored Brand Ads, Homepage, Hero Placement and Spotlight units.

  • Email and in-app push

    • Where: Kohl's email list and the Kohl's App
    • Buying: Managed service

Kohl's says its email "targets past purchasers or 'like' customers," and its push notifications engage "customers based on events, location and proximity."

  • Social, display, Google and YouTube

    • Where: Meta, Pinterest, TikTok, Snapchat, DV360, Google, YouTube
    • Buying: Managed service

KMN's help center reports Offsite Display (DV360), Meta, Pinterest, TikTok and Snapchat, and its attribution table adds "PMAX (Formerly Google Shopping Ad)" and a YouTube Video Action Campaign.

KMN's site also lists streaming audio, influencers, online video and linear TV among its offsite channels. No KMN page lists an in-store ad format.

Same SKU, same brand, whole basket

Same SKU, same brand or the whole basket: three ways KMN credits a sale

"The default attribution window across all Kohl's Media Network (KMN) ad types is 30 days, except where otherwise noted," says KMN's help center. The KMN Katalyst portal opens on a 14-day window for onsite display and sponsored products, with the 30-day view "available as an optional selection."

Same SKU and Brand onsite

Sponsored Products report "Same SKU (Last-Click) and Brand (Last-Click)." Brand attribution credits a sale when a shopper sees a brand's ad and "later purchases any product from that brand"; it "was previously referred to as 'Halo (Same Brand)'." Reports show SKU ROAS and Brand ROAS.

Basket-level sales offsite

Offsite placements report "basket level sales," meaning "total revenue from everything the customer bought after ad exposure," on a 30-day click window, with a 1-day view window on most channels; Pinterest moved to a 30-day view window in Q1 2026. Brand-level offsite sales arrive "via manual wrap reports for now."

Data timing and exports

Offsite data "reflects activity up to 48 hours ago" and goes back to 2024; reports download as CSV, and data "is not currently available via API."

  • Email: "7 Day (Post Delivery)"
  • Push, homepage, hero and spotlight: "14 Day (Post Delivery)"

Calls, a release and a new platform name

Marketplace growth, a new portal name and Koddi inside SA360: what changed around KMN in 2026

These changes come from Kohl's earnings calls and a Kohl's release, KMN's help center and a trade report on Koddi.

  1. May 28, 2026

Marketplace items to more than double

On its first-quarter call, Kohl's said it planned "to more than double our current offering of marketplace items on our website."

  2. June 17, 2026

Koddi connects to Search Ads 360

Koddi announced an integration with Google's Search Ads 360, and a trade report listed Kohl's among Koddi's partners. Kohl's has not said its inventory can be bought there.

  3. 2026, effective "8/3"

One portal for onsite and offsite reports

KMN's help center says offsite reporting is "available within the Katalyst platform effective 8/3," calling the update "primarily a platform rebranding to KMN Katalyst."

  4. August 25, 2026

Media under a Chief Customer Officer

Kohl's named Arianne Parisi Chief Customer Officer, responsible for "marketing, brand and creative, loyalty, personalization, media, and digital commerce."

  5. August 26, 2026

    Marketplace up 88%

Kohl's said its marketplace grew 88% in the second quarter and that it is "more than doubling our selection of marketplace products and vendors."

Feeds, seats, inboxes, proposals

Feed mapping, viewer seats and six inboxes: where Kohl's campaigns lose time

  1. Products the platform cannot see yet

A product "may be visible on Kohls.com but not yet available in Koddi," KMN's help center says, usually because of "product registration, feed timing, or advertiser mapping."

  2. Viewer seats on managed media

On managed media your team usually watches from a viewer seat, while self-service users hold Admin or Manager roles, so who can change a campaign depends on the route it was bought through.

  3. A separate inbox for each question

The help center lists a Koddi help desk for onsite and logins, a KMN Katalyst inbox for offsite, marketplace and vendor help desks for setup, a media partners address for application status and a billing inbox.

  4. Two ways of counting sales

Onsite reports give SKU and Brand ROAS; offsite reports default to basket-level sales, with brand-level numbers sent by manual report.

  5. Managed rates come in a custom proposal

Managed budgets start from a proposal sized by tactic, flight and KPI, with rates from Kohl's sales team.

Self-serve seat plus managed briefs

RMIQ's Kohl's advertising agency service, split along KMN's two doors

Brands looking for a Kohl's advertising agency will find Kohl's on RMIQ's list of supported networks: RMIQ's Walmart guide names it among the department stores, beside Macy's, Nordstrom and JCPenney. Marketplace sponsored placements and wider KMN campaigns run through different doors, so RMIQ plans and reports them apart.

  • Account and seat check

Before planning, RMIQ confirms which advertiser account your products map to and which seat your team holds, since KMN ties ad eligibility to registration, feed timing and account mapping.

  • Bids inside the keyword-only door

On KMN's keyword-only Sponsored Products, RMIQ's agents tune each product's keyword list, click bids and spend in a self-service seat, as RMIQ's homepage describes its work.

  • Briefs for Kohl's managed team

For display, email, push and offsite, RMIQ prepares the brief and budget for Kohl's proposal and follows results from the viewer seat, while Kohl's team activates the media.

  • Two sales counts, kept apart

RMIQ reports onsite SKU and Brand ROAS beside offsite basket-level sales, each labeled as its own measure.

One campaign per SKU, on Instacart

Darey Brands on Instacart: RMIQ's per-SKU campaigns, outside Kohl's

RMIQ has published no Kohl's result. Its closest match to KMN's keyword-only Sponsored Products is Darey Brands on Instacart, where "each SKU was run by RMIQ as its own AI-optimized campaign."

  • Darey Brands

    Better-for-you dairy, Instacart
    • ROAS increase in under 2 months: 75%

Attributed sales from Instacart retail media: 2.5x New-to-brand revenue from Instacart retail media: 2.7x "In the first 2 months Retail Media IQ more than doubled our revenue on our existing retail media ad spend," said Matt Gorella, Senior Brand Manager at Darey Brands.

Second-price clicks, keyword by keyword

Which Kohls.com search terms earn their clicks

On KMN, the self-serve ads are Sponsored Products, bought on keywords in a second-price auction and counted by SKU or brand.

  • Each keyword your self-service KMN Katalyst seat bids on, within the scope agreed on your audit call, gets a verdict: continue, adjust spend or stop.
  • The share of your keyword portfolio that needs action, read against the SKU and Brand ROAS KMN reports for Sponsored Products.
  • Projected ROAS and sales upside in 3 business days, set beside the ROAS goal KMN's automated bidding defaults to.

Vendor, seller or both

Where KMN fits a Kohl's brand, and what to settle before the first campaign

KMN fits brands that

  • Sell apparel, footwear, accessories, beauty or home products through Kohl's, as a vendor or a marketplace seller.
  • Want keyword control over sponsored products in Kohls.com search, grids and product pages.
  • Want Kohl's email, app and social reach, run by Kohl's own team.

Settle these first

  • Marketplace approval: sellers apply to Kohl's Marketplace before they can advertise as sellers.
  • Budget and rates, set in a custom proposal for managed tactics.
  • Store sales: Kohl's spoke of "closed-loop reporting" in 2022; the 2026 help center describes SKU, Brand and basket sales, so ask Kohl's team whether store purchases count.

What vendors and sellers ask first

Kohl's advertising agency FAQ

What is Kohl's Media Network?

Kohl's Media Network (KMN) is Kohl's own retail media business, which Kohl's called "the company's in-house retail media agency" in 2022. It sells sponsored products and display on Kohls.com, email and app push to Kohl's customers, and offsite media on social platforms, DV360, Google and YouTube.

Does Kohl's use Koddi, and what is KMN Katalyst?

Yes. Kohl's says its onsite sponsored products and display run on "our new platform powered by Koddi," which took over from Microsoft's PromoteIQ in August 2025. KMN Katalyst is that platform's KMN name: the help center calls the 2026 update "primarily a platform rebranding to KMN Katalyst."

Can Kohl's Marketplace sellers advertise on Kohls.com?

Yes. Kohl's Marketplace offers sellers "sponsored placements on key Kohls.com pages" through "Kohl's Media Network (KMN) powered by Koddi." Sellers first apply to the marketplace; KMN's help center also keeps a "Marketplace Vendor Onboarding" collection. Kohl's said its marketplace grew 88% in Q2 2026.

What can a brand buy self-serve on Kohl's Media Network?

Sponsored Product Ads only. KMN's help center says self-service "is currently limited to sponsored product ads/PLAs," targeted by keyword and priced per click. Display, homepage, sponsored brand ads, email, push and all offsite media go through Kohl's managed team, with prices set in a custom proposal.

Who do advertisers contact at Kohl's Media Network?

New advertisers register at Koddi's Kohl's login and request an account through KMN's access form. KMN's contact form serves marketplace vendors, merchandise vendors, adtech firms and agencies. The help center sends platform questions to Koddi's help desk and application status questions to a KMN media partners address.

Can an agency manage Kohl's Media Network campaigns?

Yes, for the self-service door. KMN's contact form lists "Advertiser or Agency," and self-service seats carry Admin or Manager roles. RMIQ, a retail media agency, runs keywords and bids in that seat and briefs Kohl's team for managed media, which Kohl's activates itself.
